The steps below follow Google's own help page, "Manage your local business links", as read on 28 October 2026. Google changes menu names from time to time, so if a label differs on your screen, use the closest match and check the page linked under Sources.
Before you start
- Your profile must be yours: you need to be signed in to the Google account that manages it, and the profile should be verified.
- Have the exact web address of your booking page ready, starting with https://. Open it in a private window first. If it asks for a login, it is not the right link.
- Decide which kind of link it is: a booking (appointments), a reservation (tables), or an order.
Steps in Google Search
- Go to your Business Profile at business.google.com, or search for your business name while signed in.
- Select Booking. If you take food orders instead, the same area lists Food ordering and Pickup and delivery.
- Select Add link. If you already have one, select Add another link.
- Paste the address of your booking page.
- Select Save.
Steps in Google Maps
- Open your Business Profile in Maps while signed in.
- Select Edit profile, then the type you want (for example Booking).
- Select Add link, enter the address, and select Save.
If you have more than one link
Google's help says you can have up to ten booking, reservation or ordering links per category. To put one first, select the transaction type, choose Set preferred link, pick the link and save. It then shows at the top as "Business preferred". A menu link and a services link are limited to one each.
If you use a booking provider
Separately from your own link, Google lets you connect a provider. Under Bookings, select Get started, choose your provider and select Done. Google says provider bookings should appear on your profile within a week, and that bookings made through Google may involve charges from the provider, so read their terms. If you are not with a provider, you can add your own link instead.
Common problems
- The link does not appear. Google's page gives no review time for new links, so allow some time and recheck. Search your business in a private window to see what the public sees.
- The link was rejected. A link that duplicates one entered by you or a provider may not be accepted.
- Links you did not add. Some links are supplied by third-party partners or automatically. Google's help says providers must remove third-party links within five days of a removal request; if they do not, you can report it.
- No numbers for your own link. Google says performance data is not available for custom links. To measure clicks, add a tag to your own link, as in
?utm_source=google, and read it in your website analytics. - The link goes to a page that needs a login or a download. Customers and assistants both give up. Send them to a page that shows services, times and a Book button.
Why this matters for AI assistants
Assistants answering "where can I book a haircut near me" lean on the same public information as Search and Maps: hours, categories, reviews and links. A clear booking link on your profile is one of the few things you control that is read by both people and programs. It does not guarantee an assistant will book you, but its absence guarantees it cannot send anyone to a booking page you own. Our guide on why assistants often cannot book a salon covers the rest of the picture.
