AutoReserve is a real restaurant-booking app from Hello, Inc. in Tokyo. Its AI phones restaurants for its users, including restaurants without online booking and restaurants abroad. We found no published way for a restaurant to opt out.
How to recognise it
An automated voice asking to book a table for a date, time and party size.
It calls during opening hours; requests made at night are called the next day.
If you are full, it may move on to another restaurant on the user’s list.
Is it legit?
The service is real and free for restaurants; no contract is needed to receive its calls. In 2023 Japanese restaurant owners complained to the press about repeated calls during prep time. AutoReserve has not published its caller numbers.
How to stop it or set your terms
No restaurant-side opt-out has been published (checked 28 October 2026).
Offer an online booking link so the calls are not needed.
Set your terms in the registry below.
What to say to the caller
"Please give me the guest’s name and phone number for the booking."
"We are full at that time. Please do not call again today."
"We take bookings online only."
Red flags: probably a scam
It asks for a fee to "list" your restaurant in the app. The app says restaurants pay nothing.
It asks for money, a card number, a password or a code sent to your phone.
It threatens that your listing will disappear or be marked closed unless you act now.
It cannot tell you who the customer is or how to reach them.
It pushes you to press a key, install something or open a link from a text message.
Set your terms once, for every AI caller
Agent Terms by snuepi is a free public registry: you say whether AI agents may contact you, on which channel, how often, and which booking rules apply. Agents that check the registry follow it, and you can print a door sign for staff.
Tell us about an AI call your business got. It takes a minute, needs no account and no personal data. Reports help other businesses tell real agents from scams.
